This past summer has been one of the most fulfilling and transformative times in my life, both personally and professionally. As I continue to build on the experiences I’ve gained in live production and broadcasting, I’ve also made strides in my long-term goals, like pursuing flight school and refining my skills as a leader.

Becoming a Member of IATSE Local 30 in Indianapolis was a major milestone for me. After years of working behind the scenes in various roles, it feels rewarding to be recognized by my peers in this way. I also attended training with IATSE 317 Local Broadcast & Production at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, one of the venues that has become like a second home to me. These experiences reminded me of the magic that happens when creativity and technical expertise come together to create something unforgettable.

While work has been intense, life at home has been equally important. My wife and I finally made our new house feel like home. The highlight? Putting together our dream bookshelf, where my favorite reads—from Faulkner to Camus—are proudly displayed. Camus’ philosophy of embracing life’s absurdities has been a powerful guiding principle for me. His idea that “the struggle itself is enough to fill a man’s heart” has helped me navigate the ups and downs of both work and personal challenges. Whether it’s a tough production day or making progress in flight school, I’ve learned to embrace the journey.

Speaking of flight school, I’m excited to be restarting my training on October 3rd at Tom Wood Aviation. With 16 hours of flight experience, this next step feels like more than just a hobby—it’s part of a long-term dream. There’s something indescribable about being in the cockpit, navigating the skies, and working toward something that challenges me on so many levels.

Recently, I also completed a Google Project Manager Course, which will help me elevate my work to the next level. Managing a production schedule, staying organized under pressure, and leading a team all require a certain level of focus and strategy—skills that I’m excited to put into practice in future gigs. This training equips me to take on more leadership roles in the production and events space, offering the tools to manage complex projects more effectively. I’m looking forward to using these new skills to grow, whether in live events, stage production, or my entrepreneurial endeavors.

Professionally, I’ve had the privilege of working on a variety of exciting projects, including a stint at Watkins Glen Racetrack in New York. The rush of live events like this always reminds me why I love what I do—the blend of technical precision and the energy of the audience creates something truly special.

To cap off September, I’m looking forward to working on makeup shows for Stevie Nicks in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Looking ahead, I’m actively seeking freelance opportunities for the rest of the year. Whether it’s continuing to build relationships with PRG or IATSE Local 317, or exploring new avenues in production and event management, I’m excited about the possibilities. The key, I’ve learned, is balance—checking in with the right people, showcasing my latest work, and staying open to new opportunities without overextending myself.

As I move into the final quarter of the year, I’m grateful for the balance I’ve found between work, home life, and personal growth. Whether I’m in the cockpit of a plane, behind a camera, or strategizing for a new project, I’m constantly reminded of the importance of staying flexible, focused, and open to change. Every step—no matter how small—brings me closer to the bigger picture of where I want to go, both in my career and in life.

To those reading this: If you’re navigating similar challenges or looking to grow in your own career, I hope my journey serves as a reminder that every new experience—whether it’s a certification, a flight, or a day spent on set—can help you evolve into the next version of yourself. Here’s to new opportunities, continued learning, and reaching new heights.
